ARTIST STATEMENT Julia employs awkward animated creatures to act out her person turmoil’s. She looks to explore how a seemingly small moment in a relationship can have a substantial effect on you inside. The uncomfortable situations, snide remarks, or accidental compliments can shape your entire connection, whether it be romantic, friendly or something else entirely. She uses animation to externalize the bubbling internal reactions. BIOGRAPHY Julia Pott is a British animator and illustrator based in New York. Following a BA in Animation and Illustration at Kingston University in 2007, Julia completed an MA in Animation at the Royal College of Art in 2011, where she completed ‘Howard’ and her award winning film ‘Belly’ which was officially selected for the Sundance Film Festival 2012. In between her clients have included Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Bat for Lashes, The Decembersists, Etsy, Frank Hot Dog’s, J.Crew, Malibu Rum, MTV, and Toyota. She is represented globally by Hornet Inc., with support from Passion Pictures in Europe.
